Last February 16, the Asticom Group of Companies’ first batch of cadets from the AstiELEVATE cadetship program celebrated the completion of their training in a graduation ceremony.
AstiELEVATE, AGC’s first-ever cadetship program, officially launched last August 15, 2022. The program is a 6-month training ground for fresh graduates hoping to pursue a career in IT and Engineering. After the end of their 6-month training, the IT team was deployed to ABSI, AGC’s IT and Business Services Outsourcing (BSO) arm. At the same time, the Tech and Engineering trainees went to FINSI, the Engineering and Tech solutions provider for Telecommunications, Energy, and Infrastructure.
Throughout the training, the 20 cadets underwent several training programs, courses, and immersions. The AGC HR team conducted behavioral trainings while the technical training was supervised by Kodego (for the IT team) and the FINSI QSM team for the Tech (Engineering) cadets.
The cadets under the IT department took up different programming courses such as Bootstrap CSS Framework, Node.js, Data Structures and Algorithms, and as well programming languages like JavaScript, along with installation and configuration of Laragon or XAMMP Server. As for the Tech (Engineering) cadets, the Tech team experienced training on Project Management and as well as Field Activities and Site visits. The cadets deployed under FINSI also had several immersions focused on different divisions such as Build Operations, Network Implementation Services, and Network Planning Management.
At the graduation ceremony, the 20 cadets were welcomed by an inspiring message from the CEO and President of AGC, Mharicar-Castillo Reyes, followed by encouraging talks from general managers Mel Tecson of ABSI, and Marc Kerveillant of FINSI, wishing them luck on the next step of their careers as they finish the Cadetship Program. All of the young cadets were then awarded a Certificate of Completion, a proven testament to their commitment throughout the program. Soon after, an announcement of each cadets’ deployment was made.
Through AGC’s Cadetship Program, the bona fide cadets were able to learn and grow in the past 6 months of training.
“As a fresh graduate, I looked for a job that would allow me to expand my professional network and develop my technical skills and capabilities, and I’m glad that I found it with Asticom,” shared Roxanne Ramos, an Engineering cadet.
“In the past, I struggled with my confidence, but through the AstiELEVATE Cadetship program, I was able to gain not just confidence, but as well as experience in the field I’ve taken,” Joel Malaluan, an IT cadet, added.
The AstiELEVATE Cadetship Program focused both on technical training and as well as core training, to target both skills and behavior to further ready them for their roles.
The graduation ceremony ended with a photo op to cap off the program and as well as a congratulatory to the successful pilot run of AGC’s Cadetship Program, AstiELEVATE.
